Shaws Snow day Silliness and Southie Sense of humor Thread

I had a rooster raise some chicks last summer. He's a back up rooster and was in my big grow out coop by himself. I had 20 chicks hatched out that needed to go in there and had no where else to put him, so I thought I'd give it a try.

He took right to being a papa, but he wasn't all cuddly and nurturing like your boys seem to be. He was more like a Drill Sargent. He'd come out the pop door first in the morning and stand right there waiting for them to file out. If they dawdled or fooled around he'd give 'em a good peck. The last one out always got spanked just for being last, lol.

After they ate he'd march them right back into the coop again. He'd make them go in and out of the coop 4 or 5 times a day, just because, and kept that up until it was time for them to go bye bye. It was amusing to watch him, he sure made those chicks toe the line.
That is hilarious!!! OMG!! What a ham :lau my broody hen babied mine 😂🤣:th she let them sleep in the nest box with her for soooo long because when she would try to teach them about roosting, they would start screaming and she’d just give up and fly back down :lau :th

One of my boys still sleeps in the box but I think it’s because his half brother, my dominant cockerel, doesn’t let him roost maybe ? But they get along otherwise so idk haha the girls figured out roosting pretty quick but the boys took forever 😂

Each? Per day? Why such a small yield?
One lays only 7 a day, and one lays 17. The other one hasn’t started laying yet, though.
I think it’s such a small amount because it’s winter. Usually they lay 19-54 eggs per day.

I really hope some poor, innocent chicken newbie comes across this and believes it🤣🤣

You've read all the threads about crowing hens. I don't know what you mean. Hens can turn into roosters and lay eggs too! :lau :lau :D
