She’s on stilts!

agree with Jed. I think the seller was cagey because he has breeds for the 'wrong' purposes and didn't want you to realize it.

Doesn't look modern game to me.
I'd say she is a mix. White with black splotches like that usually means one dominate white gene which means her parents were different colors/patterns.

Perhaps so. They sell eggs for eating and chicks. They didn't seem to like that I'd rather have eggs to hatch the chicks myself, for fun and to protect my flock from anything theirs might have. I was just about to give up and try elsewhere when they said yes. I wasn't picky, so I'm quite happy with this unusual addition to my flock. I just didn't quite get why they were willing to part with newly hatched chicks but not eggs to hatch my own. Maybe they have too many, I know what that's like! All the same, if I'm willing to part with something, I'll part with it for whatever your purposes are, which are none of my business. But those are their chickens and these are mine so I'll stick to making decisions about mine, kwim?

So, will that mean half of her offspring will be white because she's passing on that copy of that dominant white gene to half of them? Or is it a sex linked thing? Will she pass it on to all of them?

First part is correct.
She will pass dominate white to about 50% of her chicks.
Depending on their other genes how close to completely white they would be.
Dominate white takes two copies to completely cover black, blue etc.
It doesn't cover gold, red etc.

If you don’t mind me picking your brain for a moment, is it possible that’s what’s going on with this cockerel, too? I have two others like him, also Wyandottes or mixes of them, all from that same farm, and they are red and black and this guy has no black. Is he displaying white where he would be black because of dominant white?
