Thanks, all.
peeps, the designations Easter Egger is basically a mutt chicken that carries the gene for blue eggs. It does not mean that they can't lay green or tan, though. An Ameraucana is a recognized breed that is supposed to lay only blue eggs and has a certain standard of colors and conformation. Here is some info copied from a site on the subject, although it is incorrect about EEs not laying brown eggs because they can:

Ameraucana: has a tail and sports muffs and beard in the facial area and is white skin.

What is commonly called Easter Egg Chicken is the result of crossbreeding, it is a nondescript type of chicken whose conformation does not fit any recognized poultry standard, but whose hens lay eggs of colors other than brown or white. Unfortunately, this type of chicken is commonly sold as Araucana or Ameraucana due to the dominance of the blue egg gene.

Oh, I'm sure it is, Joe. That goes for all egg colors; they get slowly lighter as the pullet gets closer to her first real molt. After a break, they should be back to that rich color they started out with. I never really was that interested in the blue eggs, but after my pal Lynn and I did our own little egg swap across the counry, I must say, I've become quite fond of my Ameraucanas and now I think I may become attached to their eggs as well.

Oh Cyn
What pretty eggs. How wonderful and exciting, and now you're gonna start getting a lot of THOSE orders as well!

I just love my EE, so I bet the personalities are a lot the same.

Yes, I bet they are. Not a thing wrong with EEs! It just makes me nuts that hatcheries mislead people and confuse the issue.
My Charlotte is a complete angel. I can cuddle her and she seems to really like it. Silver is a bit of a psycho-girl, very flighty. At least, she has been, but yesterday, she let me pick her up and hold her without struggling. I was amazed and touched. I can pick Scout up, and pet him, but he won't stay for long-it isn't dignified to be picked up like a baby in front of your women, LOL. They are lovely birds and I know the EE are, too. All of them are sweet, pretty and lay tasty eggs.
