21 days...My big perty RRI just hatched her first chick...its a little yellow one.
Which makes sense, since the daddy is my Big Buff Orp. All 4 eggs are Ameracana+Buff Orp. Still waiting to see how many hatched...just saw one so far. Gave momma a bite of grass, and she gobbled it up.
I think I will have to cut the box a bit lower so chicks can get back in. Made it a bit high and just noticed.
How long should she stay seperated from the other chickens...can she go back in the hen house as soon as the chicks are done hatching? Never moved a hen her own home while she was setting....
Will try to sneak some more peeks, and maybe see if I can get a shot of the new chicks with my camera. They picked a windy, blustery day here to hatch.
