My hen that lays blue eggs hasn't laid in nearly a week. I missed a couple of counts last week, but the last time I got a blue colored egg was Monday or Tuesday last week. Should I be worried? She's active and seems to be eating well otherwise.

Do they free range at all? Could she be hiding eggs from you?

I only started free ranging them yesterday. They go out of their large pen for half hour to an hour. I work outside the home, and our acreage isn't fenced in the way I'd like it so they don't do it a lot.

I did find a jelly egg this morning, very weak (almost no shell) egg in the general area of where she roosts. I wonder if that is anything important. The girls do have oyster shell and Layena crumbles. They've been receiving treats when the kids don't finish supper or some veggies are past the prime in the fridge.

Maybe she's molting which would be a blessing. Poor thing's been over mated and wears a Hen Saver apron with shoulder pads. I hope her feathers will grow back.
