A Chicken I've had for almost a yr has never c***** ( the rooster song) which is fine by me. I'm pretty sure its a he since I witnessed him mount an australorp hen this afternoon. But is it unusual for a rooster not to crow?

pics would be really helpful in figuring out if its a "he" that doesn't crow or just a confused "she" lol

LOL! It does have hackle and saddle...long pointy hackle & saddle feathers. Its a pretty ugly chicken...I don't know if I want to post a pic.

These are about the best pics I could get...male or female? btw.....it mounted 2 different hens while I was trying to these pics...

Oh yes, that's a rooster! I have roosters who don't crow. In my case, it's mostly because I have more than one rooster and the less dominant roosters just don't crow. They have different personalities, too, maybe your boy just doesn't feel like it.

He's gorgeous, by the way!

yep, thats definitely a "he"

no idea why hes not crowing though. just consider yourself lucky that he likes to be quiet. my boys like to talk back anf forth with the neighbor's roos all day

He has never *c* (can't say the *C* word)..even before one of the pullets grew up to be a rooster or after the rooster was rehomed. Maybe he is the strong, silent type...I can only hope. If he starts c***ing he will have to go.

Neighbors won't tolerate a rooster c***ing)
Thanks for saying he is gorgeous...he really isn't....he just takes nice pics. Obviously, he is an EE. He is not rough with the girls another reason I questioned his sex. Thanks everyone...you are most helpful!
