Well i put out new hay to all of my duck pens, since its sunny today.
After putting the wheelbarrow up I went to watch the 8 mutt ducklings I have play in it.

Well one of my little peach colored ones Jumped from a branch I have in the pen, into the hay -and dissapeared!

Not only was she startled, but poor mama duck went nuts when she heard her baby crying! I nearly fell out of my seat laughing!
Just thought id share a smile or two.

LOL, man, I wonder who she thought laid that egg

nine out of fifteen of my ducks are buff mutts, dont you love em?

I volunteer in the bird department at the zoo here and the crested wood partridges had built a nest. We put two dummy eggs in with the crested wood partridges to see if the thrushes would attack it. The female wood partridge came over and saw the eggs and turned around towards her rear and started grooming like "oh, I didn't notice I did that.."

Less than 30 minutes later she popped two out like she had just forgotten she was in the middle of laying.

GoatWalker...are your buff mutts all insane or is it just my Uno??? (Her mom, the buff, was a little goofy, but I don't know if that is the breed of just Lana!)

The buff female I have , our little mama, is a petite, bossy little busy body! She is in everyones business and makes sure they know who is boss. The ducklings are fine I guess, but what can i say ? The only ducklings ive ever had were buff cross! except for three females, but they were antisocial twits! I love my ducks, but those three are just...

I beleive so. Her not even a month old ducklings are as big as her! thats how small she is. Are all buffs that small?

Oh now that is cute...I did have one of my 11 totally freak me out before they moved into the garage.

I put a towel down in the end of my tub for them to cuddle up on and sleep. I checked on everyone about midnight and they were all sleeping fine...next morning I go to turn off their heat lamp, check food and water and there are only 10 ducklings looking at me. I freaked.

I pulled everyone out and notice a raised blob in the towel and thought for sure one poor little guy was under the towel crushed...so I pulled back the towel and duckie was inside the folds and passed totally out, happy as you please. I woke it up and made it move around to make sure it was okay. silly ducks
