Love Neil Diamond, just saw him in concert here! I read that too about those tortoises. Strange, huh? Must be more to it, like maybe their enclosure isn't right or something?

Reality bites!
It's funny. About 3 weeks ago, I was on my way to pick my daughter up from school, and I spotted an old man walking with a tortoise in an empty lot next to the road. That critter's shell must have been at least 30 inches long, and I'm sure the thing was much too heavy for him to lift. Considering that my two Sliders have grown 6 inches in the roughly 6 years that I've owned them, I couldn't help but wonder how old that tortoise must be!

It is one of those rare occasions where a pet will most certainly outlive its owner. And perhaps its owners offspring.
