SHE or HE??

This is a 3 week old English Mottled Orpington. She/He is aggressive with my other 2-3 weeks old bantams. She/He seems to be herding them. She/He also chest bumbs the other chicks. The other chicks follow her around. Not sure... I am suspicious she is a he... your thoughts please??

It is still pretty early to tell. My most recent hatchery chicks did some chest bumping even though they turned out to be female. Even females have a pecking order after all. But time will tell.

Can you not have males where you are? If you can there's no reason if you were to really work with him he'd be tame. And yes scratch n' peck is right that it might be too early to tell 100 percent but I still lean towards cockerel.

Aw, I'm guessing from the name "Citi Chick" that there is a city ordinance banning roosters. My Buff Orpington roosters were really nice, but I have had some nice and not so nice Old English Games.

Didn't see that until after I asked. It's a pity though he could be a great cockerel
