Ruby, I've always liked you, but this is inexcusable. You couldnt start with a Brinsea mini after trying with an LGHi!, I'm purple. I love the "my type of crazy"!! Lol! I, personally, started with the Brinsea mini. (Absolutely, love it, especially after trying an LG..(sorry guys)..)
I bought the 9300 LG model. It this hatch going into lockdown on Sunday will be the third hatch. The first hatch I had about 58%, the second fried the babies on day 18 due to temp spike because I am an idiot and moved it to a room where it was not temp controlled, and we shall see in this hatch. So far I have only had 2 day 7 quitters and the rest are growing well and hopefully they all hatch.Hi! Thread lurker here.I have read it all and I think you're my type of crazy.![]()
My question to red, blue and purple teams- which incubator did you start off with? Anyone go the homemade route the first time around?
She didn't say she tried the LG first. She said she loved it especially after trying it.... (She could have tried the LG after starting with the Brinsea...there, broke it down for you...lol)Ruby, I've always liked you, but this is inexcusable. Thanks I hope they all hatch. That would be fun!!!! 13 polish babies running around. LoL!!!
Do you have any idea what breed(s) of chickens you want to raise? And you didn't call me out yet? I'm shocked.![]()
As I just convinced my husband a few months ago to get chickens (and he's still not fully on board) I have not made an incubator yet. YET! I have this weird compulsion to make things to supposedly 'save' money. And I like doing it. I probably use the tools more than him and I have to say the cordless drill is the best fathers day present I ever got him.![]()
We built our own coop. I had grand delusions of how cheap it would be and even gathered scrap materials from my FIL and from work. Still all and all I think we're at around $500. Which isn't terrible but not my goal either. The wire for the run just arrived last weekend so that's next.
My next step is to scoop up a rooster so I can have fertile eggs for hatching.
Then I'll probably build an incubator and aim for world domination.
I'm definetly in the red corner!! Amy your way of hatch helping, pipper flipping and removing shells and chicks is exactly what i do. Its good to see im not the only one!! I sure am going to love this thread!!
