She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

She's just like the peas!! It's just fascinating because I never associated the two animals with being so similar! They would sit on my shoulders, my head, fall asleep right on me. They really think you are their mother! She's precious.

Until i read your story, i had no idea the peas imprinted like that either, geese are also very impresionable like this from what ive read!

So! I candled and weighed for the final time! I know its really early, at day 24, but i have four internal pips! I did the numbers, and the percents are lower** than what i was expecting (higher today within two days 1 gram of weight loss!) But i witnessed the Draw down in 11 of them, and i see what you mean about shrinkwrapping! I wouldve been very concerned if you hadnt shared your experience with me! Thank you Everyone, my duckys are gonna Hatch!!! :yiipchick

How are you managing humidity in your GQF with staggered hatches?  I bought one this summer and only did one incubation in it, humidity stayed up where I wanted it but I didn't have enough eggs in there to be statistically significant.  I  use a water pan and humidifier pad.
well trial and error...I'm using water pan and wet cloths when I see pips to boost humidity after I started loosing so many...it stays around 50% and rises back up quickly if I have to open the bator...I add more on hatch to raise to about 65% now so that I won't get shrink wrapped chicks but I have to constantly monitor during hatch because the fan dries the sponges and cloths to quick. I also have to make sure the pan is full at all times...I don't like this bator. So I'm thinking about trying a little Giant Nova bator. Have not decided yet but that GQF is expensive and the kid only used it 3 months so he told me to rent it from him first before I shell out 650$ he paid 875$ for it.

send some of that to Rayvn it will open those sinus's right up :sick   bet you can't smell the poultry pens tonight :gig

No thanks... ran one of those over the other night... stupid suicidal black polecat... :/

:gig

Bet she never thought of that one!

Who would??? :plbb
Btw, congrats on the Wood ducks!

Rayvn needs to catch that in her trap. free sinus tester . if you can't smell that your nose is really stopped up .

Did I miss a memo??? Free for all on the miserable one?

TY Raven, that’s what I wanted to know. So mine aren’t sex-linked because I have a yellow Skin Silkie Roo and full blood silkie hens

Very welcome, sj... sorry it won't work for you though...

Wow... that's a bit much, especially for a cabinet that won't hold humidity... if you're gonna try a styrobator, I recommend either a Hovabator Genesis if you want one of the best styros, or a Hovabator 1602N for cheaper version... everything I've heard about the newer LG's is they are harder to keep stable... jmo though... :)

My husband said he would spring for a cheaper digital to start but have me a Brinsea by spring...he said I can't do any worse and it would cost less for 3 styros than the one I was thinking of buying...so we will see.

I am setting one last hatch this week..only because the eggs are already on the way...Sultmalers and blue laced wydonette bantams. So after this spring will be my next try...but I might incubate and try broody hens then.

x2, x2, x2!!!!

Do youself a favor and don't waste your money, time, hopes and dreams on an LG. They're just awful. Hovabators have good reviews, though I have never used one personally. You could even opt to make your own! It's easier than you would think and super easy if you get a kit of some sort.
We bought two LGs and neither one would hold temp for longer than a few days. They would be fine and then out of nowhere, the temp would spike to 106 or 108! Luckily we found this out during dry runs before we set any eggs or they would have been fried several times over. And we had the LG9200. The digital 9300 are supposed to be even worse. Anyways, we ripped out the plumbing on one of the LG's and installed the incuKit mini(50 bucks). It was easy as pudding pie. Our first hatch ever was 93%. 13/14 eggs. Parade worthy ain't bad for a first go 'round. No way that would have happened with an LG.

Seriously, it's your money, but you should do some more research before you commit to buying one. One Brinsea mini is worth a zillion and a half LGs. Ask @scflock

Genesis is digital, runs approx 150... 200 w/turner... I still have my 2 even though I use my Leahy, and they are great...

Wheaten or GDW Sulmtalers? Nice birds, but will warn you mine are a bit flighty, lol...
