Okay so here are the ones I rescued. I am treating them with antibiotics, medicated food, and the one with a hurt eye is getting Veteriycin and I just found lice! Ugh!!! I feel so bad for these guys.

I dont even know what breed they are except that they are Cornish Crosses.

I haven't caught up yet, but I wouldn't hold out high hopes for the bird in the second photo to survive.

That is the most starved and neglected bunch of birds I've seen in a long time. Kudos to you to taking on the challenge. Be sure to keep a strong quarantine for at least 30 days.

Question to anyone who sells their eggs... Do you need/have a license?

My sister-in-law's husband worked in the mines, and he took coolers of eggs to work almost daily and sold to other workers. He got laid off, so she has tons of eggs without buyers. (5 gallon bucketfuls, she had to throw away) She parked her truck at the end of her driveway with an Eggs For Sale sign, and a cop (I suppose) told her that she couldn't sell them there without a license. So I'm curious about other states policies on it.

That depends on the state. Michigan does not consider whole eggs to be a high risk food item so they can be sold as long as they are not processed in any way. I can also use them in baked goods if I sell those, or in dried pasta (but not fresh pasta).

Laws vary widely, so consult your state's laws for guidance. Search for cottage food laws for starters, then shell eggs.

So I found a rule here in WV.

A small egg producer is any person marketing 150 dozen eggs or less per week of his/her own production. As a small producer you must register with the state but you are exempt from paying permit or inspection fees.

I've passed up those production quantities in the past...not now. I WISH I had that many to sell.

I wanted some real Ameraucanas so the kids around here could buy the real thing if the want to show. It's too sad when they enter an Ameraucana and it's really an EE and get DQ for non standard variety. Love and will continue to raise and breed EEs though!
That sounds so gross! Almost spit my coffee all over the keyboard!
I alternate ACV and plain water, but started everyone on sav a chick for the first two days.
Re: Dr. Pepper and Rootbeer. Don't knock it until you've tried it! The mix is better than either one of them alone.
