Now, if you really want to get a beat down, buy some black copper marans on CL, then post pictures of them on the "Black Copper Marans Discussion Thread".

They are so much more than dark egg layers, and a lot of work is being done by some dedicated people to try and perfect this relatively new breed. I didn't know that at the time, and I just wanted to show pictures of my new chicks. I think the exact reply was "If it were me, I would eat them and start over". Also I have to share, we got Orpingtons that carry the lavender gener we were told. This guy- or girl, falls asleep on my belly a lot. And no it's not normally this big, I'm having twins (I apparenty just like incubating things

Ok, so play along. What do you sound like? I've only been out your way once, to visit my mother when she lived in Phoenix for a couple of years. I dont know what NM folks sound like. I picture Indians on reservations... Lol (sorry

My mom lived in Phoenix. No one is actually from AZ, it's just a bunch of Californians that like to pretend they are cowboys. All I know about NM I learned from watching Breaking Bad, so I wouldn't eat those blue eggs

LOL, I don't post much because I'm usually checking in on my I-Phone and I hate typing on that thing. Therefore, I read way more than I respond.

I don't think I have an accent but my speech is scattered with Spanglish - and hospital acronyms which annoys my family to no end. I lived in SoCal my whole life until 6 months ago. One of those tree-hugging Californians that try to be more self sufficient with a garden and chickens that finally had to leave the mass of humanity to find some space!

People here in NM don't sound that different that California, but many of the people I meet are from California so that's not surprising.

I can fall into a heavy Appalachian accent pretty fast though, since I spent summers on the VA/WV border at my Granny's house. Relatives always said "I" was the one who talked funny. (LOL) A few old-timey expressions still leak out once in a while, which always crack my kids up - like if I'm fixin' to do something. (LOL).

I do have some of the orpingtons that are grey as well. From what I understand if they only carry the lavender gene they will not be lavender? These are the grey babies, one of my daughters is holding.
