Yeah
Good luck!! I love colour mix of those eggs! Is the incubator holding steady now?

yeah - it held steady at 100.2F and 65% for 1/2 hour so i placed the tray of eggs in. The temp dropped back down to 55 but has been rising very slowly since. The humidity has also been dropping in there, so it will be good.

I'll take the eggs out of the tray when i do my first candle and mark air cells in a few days.

an't scerd of noting but a five foot women can unnerve me real fast. enjoy your family while you can. the ones you love most seem to be the first ones you lose

That's why I lost 'em early. Who needs all the drama?

You guys/gals are a hoot. Did I mention I started reading this thread and made it to post 1100 and something and said forget it, I want in. I might slowly read through while trying to keep up with the chatter.
Did you at least see the parade? Queenie won't like you if you didn't see the parade

know you won't read this till tomorrow but two things torx screws do strip and when they do its hard to get them out worse when they break square drive are about the same stay away from stainless they break in hard wood. I predrill a lot but either are the best thing going. If you really want it to hold use simpson strong ties hex head and you can screw them into dry oak . the other thing be careful cutting metal with wood saws the sparks will melt plastic .If using a circular saw with metal a cutting blade make sure it has a metal blade guard .not real worried about you SC. you are in construction.so you others out there never take your eyes off of what you are doing and stay 100% focused on what you are doing at all times. good power tools cost a lot of money do your home work before buying any tool. It's cheaper to buy a good tool once than to buy a cheap tool two or three times.
I haven't stripped a Torx yet, but I imagine the only removal tool would be the sawsall. I do have a metal blade guard. I really like my eyes and fingers. I also have one set-in-stone rule in the shop. No cold ones until the last cut is made. No joke

I started out with that self same incubator! How have you found the temp adjuster? I found I had to have it turned right down to get 37.5*c. The sticker thing on it was a waste of time. It was WAY wrong and out. Needless to say I cooked my first batch of eggs in it. Will take a while to warm through with the cooler eggs in.

Normally I wouldn't take this route so bluntly but if you read the peafowl threads (they have some hardcore breeders) they all say that peafowl need assistance to survive. So I appreciate you holding off on the smack!

I am guessing that peafowl are like turkeys and you need exactly the right conditions (temp and humidity) in order to have them hatch successfully on their own due to the thick shells. If left to hatch on their own, you'd probably get 50% of them to hatch like my turkeys do in the recommended conditions, but if I intervene my success rate is virtually 100%. It's scary though, as you can't see through the shell to know when they are ready to be helped. I need a super bright LED panel under the hatching tray, and a cabinet like my blast cabinet with built in gloves so I can assist without opening.

And there you have it...the Walnut Hill Hatcher (in red, of course!). Just replace the blaster mechanicals with heat source and humidity, add a super bright LED candler, and you'll be good to go.

Ok - setting 30 eggs whenever i get temp to hold steady somewhere in the right range.

10 silkie - i'm not sure on the fertility of these .
8 backyard mix, 3 of which are EE. Getting good bulls-eyes in these eggs
3 Araucana
3 Orpington
3 Dorking
and 3 Sussex X Frizzles
These 12 are from a breeder so hopefully fertility is ok, and hopefully they survived the shipment

Will be running Dry as the ambient humidity has been 75-80 for the last week

I love the pretty egg collection. Can't wait to see what comes out!

Here is my little silver Maran cross chick is so beautiful! I am in love.

Very cute!

I can't wait for my girls to start laying so I can have an excuse to make my incubator and hatch some eggs. Sadly, Sue is a no frills kind of rooster. He chases them until he corners them and mounts up. We've been finding feathers often and now we know why. For some reason I thought I wouldn't find feathers all over until a molt. I guess it's more like hair and normally shedding etc. Or he's just very active.
