She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

Ok, here is the first official scflock hatching timeline in support of the "hands-off" approach: Tuesday Night, Day 20: 9:00PM, first hatch Wednesday morning, Day 21: 7:30 AM, three now Wednesday night, Day 21: 9:00PM, up to 13 I lost count after this. There was too much pipping and zipping, so no one gets out tonight... Thursday morning, Day 22: 7:30 AM, who knows how many, incubator is full Ok, this is where my position has been ammended. It's been 34.5 hours since the first hatch with no chicks removed, and the incubator is full. On my last hatch, I woke up to a similar situation and left them until I got home from work. 2 had trouble hatching, and I think it was because it was too crowded, so this time I'm going to take them out and count Thursday morning, Day 22: 8:00AM, 21 have hatched, and are dry All healthy, alert, and relaxed. No crooked toes, no splayed legs. 5 unpipped eggs are left. I will give them until the end of the day tomorrow, day 23, and shut down no matter what is happening, unless one is zipping
What breed of polish? I have a big variety in my incubator. I just wanted to know what was pictured so I can get an idea as to what they will look like when they hatch.

That was great
You'd better hurry and set some eggs, the blue kool-aid is flowing

I'm half way there. If they keep going like they have the last 2 days I could be ready by Friday if you were...lol
And that 21 doesn't count, it's pre hatch match....

I have my lg fired up. Fired it up to play with the salt theory, so it will be nice and ready...lol

If you just fired it up, it will be at least next Wednesday before you get the temp within a 5 degree window

I could be ready any time, but I have 40 chicks in brooders right now, and 12 more with their broody mamas (marans and silkie), so I need to see if I can sell some this weekend before I set another batch. My wife loves the chicks as much as I do, but I'm about to get into an inventory overload. Come on Craigslist!

I'm sorry, guys, but I have to set my eggs tomorrow.

The challenge:
18 assorted bantam chickens, with three eggs randomly selected (the last in each row in an 18 egg carton), ID tagged, weighed and air cell marked.
12 ISA Brown eggs, with 3 eggs randomly selected (every fourth egg in a 12 egg carton), ID tagged, weighed and air cell marked.
16 Narragansett and Narr x BBB eggs, one at 152g and one at 104g
21 Easter egger (mostly olive) collected dating back to 4/20 so the oldest will be 24 days old when set. These have been in a turner since collected, stored at cool room temperature.
I bought a Brinsea spot check today and will set the incubator for 99.5 internal egg temp. I am just about done calibrating the redwood Leahy. That is an incredibly stable incubator!

I still have lots of tray space and am fighting not to just go out and buy eggs to fill it up.
I think this thread will be more than a one time set challenge. I would love to follow your results in your cabinet, and I'm also curious to see if you can hatch 24 day old eggs. Do you have them marked? Have you done that before?

Let me know when you are ready and I'll be ready. I'm thinking I need to set by Tuesday evening if I am going to use the eggs I already have marked...lol Hope you have awesome sales in the next few days!

I think my set date is going to depend on what happens this weekend. I'm growing out 19 marans to sell when they come off the heat, and I have 3 more weeks to go on them. Now I have the polish that I just advertised, so I need to see how sales go, and what I want to set next. I'd like to set the booted bantams, but they are sporadic since they have young chicks themselves. I have a feeling this is going to be a rolling thread that compares techniques more than just a one time challenge, so head to head may not be as big a deal. If I have a good weekend, I could set Tuesday, but I'm going to play it by ear for a few days. I'm sitting on 84% right now, and possibly better by the time I get home, so I have proven my point...
