I think Bev did the best of what I hope to do: breeding to SOP while maintaining egg color. It's a shame she doesn't sell any more, but the breeder that sidewing got his chicks from was recommended to him by Bev. I can't wait to follow their progress. That way when I send him the Paul Smith eggs, he will owe me

I would be glad to consider it a trade.

Ok, guys, I'm almost ashamed to post this, but here is the link to where Tate came from. He put up a new ad. I knew nothing at the time, and from the pics that's obvious

At least I'm already moving forward. Tate looks much better than his siblings, and I picked up a few older, better quality hens. Hopefully they can help him produce a more SOP rooster, but if not I will try and find one next year.

Wheaton influence big time! Too bad those halos don't make that guy an angel. The other ads you posted are an outright deception. And then they post online and get pretty sad when people pick them apart. Or worse, they tell them "Oh that's a very nice Marans" and the bad blood continues.

I'm no longer in denial, I realized last night that I have a SERIOUS addiction to candling. I just told myself the night before that I wouldn't candle again to lockdown...and I believed myself (that's how I know it's bad). But at night when I go to hand turn, I literally can not stop myself!! Now that I've changed the batteries and could see Mars if I shined this thing in the sky, forget about it.

You don't want gold around the neck or any side sprigs on the comb at all.

What keeps shows going are breeders from all walks of life. the ideal is to draw more people to a show . Its one thing to take first place out of ten . its means a whole lot more to take first out of a hundred . I was not offended for you . I like explanations as to why. a good judge will explain why they picked and placed every entry like they did. while I don't have time to show . I might at some time .waiting for sidewing to lead the way. blaze the trail . find all the trip wires .

That's a lot of pressure on these sweet little chicks, but I think they have the potential. We shall see as they grow. I waited a long time and they were not cheap.

SC, you are right about them being different as chicks. Even with the brooder on the floor a few will run up to my hand and the others don't act like I'm going to eat them when I reach in to take care of them or pick them up. Very friendly.
