She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

The guy did have a few decent birds, and Tate was the best of the lot. The other 3 boys looked like the ones in the ad. Tate has a halo, but the others had straw colored hackles. I think my dark hens will breed well with that, and I'm ok with his size, but I don't know how hard it is going to be to get a correct comb. Did you see the Wade Jeane pic? Jeez, even his has Tate's comb

My jaw honestly dropped when I noticed that on the bird he was holding. Makes me wonder if that gene is in all the birds in that line. At least potentially. Maybe that's the route they took to darken the eggs back up?

That's great! I'm glad little Miracle has some friends.
I'm not sure what makes you qualify. I think ex-smokers complain more about smokers than non-smokers do. Maybe its just been my experience.
Well i don't like it if someone smokes in my house. whenever I did smoke I always smoked outside. I quit by vaping. I never thought that I would ever stop. Thought that I would smoke drawing my dying breath.

I don't know how healthy it is for chooks to be drinking bleach and oxine.
I would use water treatment tablets which you get from camping or military surplus stores.
The other way to go would be chlorine, but you need to keep the doses low.
I'm sure someone will also recommend vinegar, if you go with that do lime (the stuff for pools not the fruit) once a month instead
I have researched both the bleach and the oxine. Bleach is good at 2-4ppm. I am still checking on the oxine. Bleach is Chlorine.

OK folks i have 2dz. Of greys in the incubator my thermometer was messed up unknowingly and they were at 104 degrees the first 24hrs. Are they hurt?
I would probably candle in a few days, hoping not too much damage.

There's a true friend!!

Why, thank you, sc... I do egg swaps too if you're ever interested...
I use copper sulfate... got this advice directly from ozexpat... TSC doesn't carry it, but some co-ops do, otherwise you can get it from jefferspet.com...

Instructions on package are stronger than you want... I mix 1lb pkge in 2 gallons of water for stock solution then add 1/8 to 1/4 ounces of solution to every gallon of drinking water... works in plastic standing waterers and in pvc lines... stains and has a bit of residue, but no algae, mold or slime and healthier... oz swears by it and so do I...

Didn't quote the frog pics to spare Ruby... sorry, hon... but cute pics...

Oh, and I use the super bright flashlight app on my smartphone for candling... works great!
Does the copper Sulfate kill bacteria, virus and mold too? How does it work? I know that you can use bleach or oxine and make water potable for human consumption. I just don't want to have to keep draining a 55 gallon tank, clean it and refill it weekly. They don't use it as much in the summer as I put 1 gallon waterers in the runs and with the rooster boost stuff and change that daily. They use that more. I like to keep the other water just in case they run out or There is a disaster like hurricane, etc.

Wonderful!

Crush ice in a cup and add a little water, then stick the mercury thermometer in it. If it drops to freezing point, then it's accurate. If not, check how many degrees up or down and add or subtract that many to get accurate temp.
