I made my run as varmint-proof as I could come up with, and STILL lock them up tight at night...them prowling critters can be pretty resourceful.Oh noI hope she turns up. 1 of my Silkie chicks just up and vanished into thin air a while back, right out of a covered run.

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger; I also learned the hard way. Lost 2-3 flocks from a big walk-in coop I built several years back. Finally built a smaller run closer to the house so I could watch it, with one of those pre-fab made-in-China coops to get me thru til I can build something better.I predator proofed mine after it was already too lateit was my only black Silkie, made me so mad.

Oh no!I've been out searching for a lost chick. Went out to check the playpen and Solo is gone, not a trace, not a sound. Of course the 2 little Americanas are in the playpen like nothing happened.
Totally bummed.
