She said/He said Who's right? Who's wrong? No one!

I just set 4 lavender ameracaunas, 1 wheaten ameracauna, and 3 lavender Orpington eggs I received from ray_n_debi. Due to hatch October 22.
I think I messed myself up on the hatches because my daughter turns 8 October 18, we are having her birthday party here at my house (bonfire) on oct 17. I have 104 quail hatching October 15. How am I gonna keep all those people out my brood room? Lol
If my second broody stays on her eggs they will be due the 22nd too!! And good luck keeping people out...lol

Good luck with that, kids that age love grabbing cute cuddly things, like newly hatched chicks! Check they're pockets before they leave ;) lol

Oh I will lol. I let my daughter help me out on the birds. I let her help feed and she will watch me when i candle or she will help me load chicks out of the bator to move to the brooder. Even helps me clean pens :)
I didn't want broodies...lol Especially this late in the year, but they had other ideas. I prefer to do the hatching myself where I have the illusion of having "more control" lol
I need total control lol

I'm just the opposite; I'd much rather have a broody. Hens were doing a great job of hatching eggs & raising chicks long before we ever came along, & you don't have to have grow-out pens for chicks born into the flock, normally.

How do you get a child to do that?! Lol, I ask mine to help me feed up and it's like I asked them to go haul a cord of wood on their back across 6 acres of land, 1 piece at a time. All my daughter wants to do is hold the chicks, lol, but when it comes time to clean the brooder guess who will mysteriously disappear

She just took to it. She helps me out the the hogs we have and she helped me bottle feed 2 calves that we raised. I hope she grows up to be a veterinarian.
