Dangit! Y'all are gonna make me change it to frawg, aren't you?

Speaking of that, Walnut and I have been talking for the last few days about a great idea for the thread. OK, it was her idea, but I talk way more, so here it is:
Hatching season is coming up, and I have seen it posted that people shouldn't give advice on something that hasn't been researched. Since the gang is all back together, I think we have every conceivable kind of incubator covered. Some of us began hatching last year :frow , some of us have been hatching multiple species of birds for many years. Sounds like research to me :old
We could kinda start the thread over again where it started before Amy went on vacation. For absolutely no reason whatsoever
Tell what incubator you have, what has worked and what hasn't, and yes, we are reviving the red and blue teams, as well as parades :weee , for the new season.
What do you guys think?

Yes!!!

location: South Texas
Time of year/average weather conditions: winter extremes of mid 30's at night with mid 40's during the days, and mid 60's at night to low 80's during the days. humid weather during the warm up with south wind, dry during the fronts.
Brand and model of incubator: Hovabator 1602N
How it's equipped: incubator is still aired, manual egg turning. hygrometer was a accu right from Walmart, calibrated the humidity, and it read 7% low, temps were right on compared with the tested thermometer.
Incubation set temperature and where measured: Temp only varied once, when we lost power for a few hours, majority of the time, it stayed betweed 100-102. humidity stayed right at 35% for the first 18 days. ( I followed the Hova instructions, and filled tray #1.) measured in the center of the incubator.
Backup thermometer reading and where measured: I used the in box thermometer, and ice water tested accuracy, it was within 1/2 deg. maintained temps of 100-102. measured on top of the eggs, slightly off center.
What kind of eggs:mixed chicken and bantam eggs.
control humidity and what you tried to maintain: maintain 35% during the first 18 days, if humidity got low, I would add warm water as I was turning eggs. during lockdown, never had to add water, filled all three trays.
How long it took to hatch: 3 days.
Whether you assisted in hatching: did not assist, but did pull out hatched chicks, once a day over a three day period.
What percentage made it to 3 days: I locked down 26 eggs. 21 hatched: 1 partial zip: 4 no shows. of the 21 that hatched I culled one a few hours after hatching, it was deformed. one short leg, one long leg, both legs completely straight and would not bend. this chick never got to its feet. we currently have 20 healthy chicks in the brooder boxes.
