This happened sometime on March 28, Friday.. maybe the night of? She was attacked and one was killed. My only guess is a weasel because the coop in cemented and it was a hole maybe the size of a half dollar that was dug into their coop?

Anyway I don't know if this is infected or healing properly? The first up close picture was taken 2 days after attack and the last picture was taken today today, 5 days after. She has now decided to take a dust bath and its all nasty and I am unable to get all the gunk off. She is acting normal aside from a small limp, eating fine and enjoying normal treats. The other girls do not peck it. Any advise or any hope for her?

I would clean it with a turkey baster and weak betadine and water. Then dry it thoroughly, Apply an antibiotic ointment such as neosporin, Then I would put a little Tshirt over her or a chicken saddle or apron to keep it clean. I have made them out of a piece of polarfleece that is stretchy. Watch for pus or swelling and redness. This will take a long time for the tissue to granulate in, so when it heals a bit, you may want to then spray it with BluKote and let it dry out and scab over.

Thanks, I started out cleaning it with peroxide and saline and now have been cleaning it with vetericyn spray and applying triple antibiotic ointment. I can't seem to find the blue kote in my area? I just don't want to continue trying to save her if this is too far gone? I've never dealt with poultry wounds and I don't really know what normal or good healing looks like?

Welcome to BYC, by the way. I think the wound looks pretty good actually, and I can't see anything that looks infected. I might suggest putting her in a large crate in the coop and then out in the run or yard, so that she stays cleaner, but is still a part of the gang. Your cleaning seems fine. Please take a picture if it looks angry or infected, or when it starts healing. BluKote is sold at most farm stores and TSC, comes in spray or dab-on. http://www.jefferspet.com/dr-naylor-blu-kote/camid/equ/cp/11796/

Thank you! I've been a lurker for a while and my first post sucks:/ but my TSC is out? I haven't ventured out for it since I just heard of this two days ago when looking for something better to use at TSC. Looks like I may have to call around the different stores in the area for this stuff, btw I'm also from southern ohio:)

Makes me feel better to know this looks okay. I'll for sure keep some updates pics coming good or bad. Thank you again!

I'm near Proctorville, just outside of Huntington, WV. TSC runs out of things a lot this time of year, and it may be in a section for cows, goats, and horses. Maybe try online with the link in my last post.
