She was called a Mutant by the chick-seller..

She's definitely a sex link. I have hatchery sex links that look just like that, and at a glance I can confuse them with my black/gold EE's! But the sex links have yellow and black legs, not green, no muffs, and they are more red/gold/black than just gold/black like my EE's. Plus the sex links lay beautiful dark brown speckled eggs and my EE's lay green!

I agree with Andora she looks just like a black sex link to me. I have 4 outside myself. She has more gold than mine but none of them are exactly the same. 2 of mine have gold and 2 dont have hardly any gold.

EEs dont have to have muffs or a beard - one of my EE girls out in the coop is completely cleanfaced, has slate legs, and lays a pretty green eggs

And she looks like a sexlink by the coloring, but you can never be sure.

Thank you, Andora...

I am sure she is a sex link now, especially since her sister also had goldy-brown feathers as well and a beautiful green sheen to her black back.

she's so cute! sorry not sure about the breed prob sex link or a mix or something though either way she's adorable and good luck! so cute!

I say definetly a black sex-link pullet. Ive hatched quite a few of my own out of my Big red roo and the same hen(the only BR hen I had at the time) and hardly any looked exactly the same but all were similar in type. There's a broad spectrum of the red or gold to black ratio and the feet color fits also. Great egg producing cross you'll be proud you got them.

Also another little kicker some hardly have red on them at all. typically solid black and still they are a black sex-link,Black Star, or as some call Black Rock go to [feathersite.com] and see the sex-link section and you can go to [Kintaline Farms]from there and see a bunch of them in all mixed colors of red/gold and black with multi-colored feet from yellow to a willow-green with a kinda slate gray overlay.

Hope this help you out on your ques.

Ya know, I have a dozen black sex links. They really are pretty birds. Mine appear almost entirely black, with just a bit of copper around the neck. Some have more than others, but not a whole lot. Yours looks to have copper down on the chest also. Yes, I think they are pretty birds!
