Just want to thank you all for the info here on emergencies. My americana hen was straining at what I think was her first egg and she was positioned unnaturally (like she was constipated) and she prolapsed. I read everything here about it and we felt it was better for her to be culled. I'm OK with it now. Just making the decision was a little iffy.

I sorry for your loss. It was a huge decision and I'm glad you are OK with your decision to cull. I applaud you for putting your hen's health and well being before your own feelings. You did what was best for her.

The last thing we want is for our animals to experience pain.
