My favorite poem is The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost. I love the imagery of it, because I grew up in Colorado and spent a lot of time in the mountains, and it evokes memories of my times there. I also like the sense of both longing and regret the author brings out as he contemplates the missed possibilities of taking one road and rejecting the other. We're faced with many choices in life, from what school to attend, to what job or career to pursue, to where to live, to whom to marry, and each choice affects our lives for good or ill. Since we can't see the future each choice is a toss of the dice that may leave us wishing we had chosen differently. Frost's imagery describes this sense of conflict in a beautiful and nostalgic way.
