Back in February when chicken food was getting hard to find I bought a bag of layer crumbles. My pullets are still on chick starter and will be for at least another month. Should I toss the layer feed and buy a fresh bag?

It likely has diminished vitamin and amino acid potency, especially fat soluble vitamins.
You bought it 5 months ago (which is a long time) but what is the mill date on the bag? It could have been 3 or 4 months old when you bought it.
Feed bags have mill dates (the day it was made), not use by dates.
Fertrel sells a product that you can mix with the feed to boost the things that erode over time.
It is the booster pack.

If it is just one bag, it probably isn't worth it so either throw it away are put it out for the wild birds.
