Hello--my Araucana has been passing eggs with no shells, or with weak, rubbery shells. She gets the same diet and exercise opportunities as my three other hens, who are all laying normally. This has been going on for nearly a week, following a period of no eggs at all. Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

I had a hen do the same thing. I purchased her as an adult, she is an all white EE. The person I bought her from said she always laid nice blue eggs. I gave her some extra oyster shell and that seemed to fix the problem.

Thanks! We had an oyster dinner the other night, so we happen to have some shells I can bust up. Their feed has calcium, but it can't hurt to try that.

Also, if she's a new layer that happens as well....workin' out the kinks

She actually isn't a new layer...she was producing pretty consistently until this happened, for almost a year, so this is very puzzling.
