Is it possible to have an egg completely without a shell? When they eat them there’s usually evidence of shell pieces but not today.

Thanks for your reply. They do have access to oyster shell though they rarely touch it. I give them scrambled eggs only on occasion and they eat 1-2 of their own eggs per week Ugh, which I don’t advocate haha. Their diet is a 22% protein all flock pellets and occasional fruits or vegetables. I’ll just hope it doesn’t become a thing. Thanks.Hi there! I’ve seen this with my chickens when they don’t have enough calcium or are stressed by something. You could feed them egg or oyster shells to bring up calcium levels, but I’d only get concerned if it becomes a regular thing. I’ve even seen it where the membrane is on but no shell is present—same problem, and quite common. Hope this helps!

It has been getting extra warm during the day latelyYou could try switching to a layer feed if it’s possible for your flock, otherwise it sounds like you’re doing the right thing. Stress is another potential cause, and a couple diseases, so you could keep an eye out for other behaviors if the issue persists. I noticed this in one of my hens once right when the temperature spiked, so changing heat or other environmental factors may also be at the root.
Best of cluck!
They can be quite picky. Haha. Thanks. Good luck to you as well.My hens don't love the oyster shell either. I haven't had any issues yet but I've been keeping an eye on it! Good luck!
