Okay i got a few hens and roosters from my cousin about 2 weeks ago and I have noticed about every other day give or take there has been an egg laid in the nest box without a shell. I have never seen this and am affraid I have a hen that is having problems. I do not want to develop an egg eating problem. I have not seen any broken shells at all in the coop. I need to separate and figure out which one is doing this. do i cull her out? has anyone had this problem?

Although my girls are almost a year old, I did have one egg with only a membrane. When I touched it, I almost jumped out of my skin. I was not prepared to feel only a membrane. It has only happened once, so I have not been concerned. Are your hens getting any oyster shell (calcium)?

they are 1 year old and the eggs were just the yellow and white of the egg. they are getting layer and oyster shell now. i am not sure what they were getting before. probably scratch. I'm not sure if she has always done this as they were free range before.
