Are you sure they are eating the oyster shell?? maybe you could mix some in with the feed and see if that makes a difference. I noticed that that someone mentioned the molting, molting might be a factor, my girls are just finishing up with their molt and now that I think of it there were some thin shelled eggs for a little while.
