One of my white leghorn hens is hatching babies. She is on cucoo marans eggs and I could see 2 fuzzy butts. I don't know how many she has because she is a vicious thing and nearly takes my hand off when I try to touch her.

Well, she has 3 little marans chicks. One other looked like it hatched but died and one was pipped and partially zipped, but got rolled over and died. The rest of the eggs I put under another broody, just in case they hatch. She's a good mama and flogged the stew out of me when I caught one of her chicks that got out of the nest. They are all safe and snug in their own cage.

I thought leghorns weren't supposed to go broody!!! Just goes to show that years of breeding can be thwarted by a little good care....LOL!!!

Thanks for the warm wishes [IMG]. I know,it's crazy. This is the 3rd leghorn to go broody this year. I had 2 go broody last year. So far almost every marans or marans mix I've had, these 3 leghorns and one bantam have gone broody. I've lost count. I still have 3 hens with chicks,2 on eggs and one I'm going to set with eggs this evening.
