Within the past week or so my 2 year old Dominique hen "Tiger" began acting sick. She lives with 3 other hens in a large, well ventilated coop. All free range in the backyard and are fed 16% layer pellets, hen scratch and garden leftovers.
She has been acting lethargic, often drooping her wings and closing her eyes. It has been 95 degree weather however the other ladies seem fine. Her comb and face are now pale, she hasn't layed for 2 weeks, and white poop has accumulated on the the feathers near her vent. She still eats however her keel is sticking out dramatically.
Does anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong with her? I'd like to take care of this myself to minimize costs. They eat lots of earthworms, grasshoppers and slugs so I'm concerned that it could be tapeworm. Thanks!

I'm thinking worms also. Here is a worming thread that may help you.

Good luck. Hope this helps you!

And, by the way,

Get her into more comfortable (less hot) conditions so she doesn;t have the stress of the heat on top of whatever is ailing her. Keep her in a stress free comfortable place indoors with water and food nearby. If you can, get a parasite test by bringing a poop sample to an avian vet. Lacking that, you can worm her though if it isn't worms, she could be needlessly compromised from the wormer.

Try feeding her some egg, sunflower seeds, .....3 drops Polyvisol liquid children's vitamins daily to try to build her strength.

She could be eggbound or an internal layer.

I had a hen go lethargic last fall and b,lood work revelaed resultys consistent with inflammation and/or infection. Antibiotics and antiinflammatory fixed her right up and she's been a whirlwind of energy since but I felt like she wouldn't have made it without the meds.

Not knowing what is wrong with your hen, it is hard to say whether her life depends on this kind of proactive effort but I am very very concerned based upon your description of her. She is in big trouble.
