Ok so ive gone out on a limb and ordered some shipped eggs, they r due here by thurs.csn someone with shipped egg experience give me help on the process of incubating shipped eggs,bc 3 eggs r peacock eggs n I soooo want a sucess hatching.
Thanks

Im not an expert, but Ive heard to let eggs sit before incubating so that they can settle. I let mine sit anywhere from 12-24 hours so the air cell can settle. Then I pop them in the incubator :)

bls5049 so do i set them big end up in an egg carton or in incubator turners off?do i candle them when i get them?

yep, I balance mine in a basket, but you can use an egg carton. Big end up. Try to keep it as cool as possible, they are supposed to be at 55 degrees when they are settling. I dont candle them when I get them, I start candling around 5 days, and fix any cracks if there are any. You can check for cracks when you get them. Thats the only thing you could really candle and see that early.

thank u for the help, just not sure how im gonna let them settle @55 degrees when we have no air conditioning, guess ill hope for the best

hmm.. well do you have a cellar? I have heard of people putting them in the fridge. I have never done that though. I would say, if your house temperature is too high, maybe only leave them settle for like 6 hours before putting them in the incubator to be safe.

I have always just let mine settle at room temp and never had any problems. I think you have to be more concerned about lower temps if you are not going to incubate them for several days.

CircleT so do I also not turn them or candle for 1st 5 days of date of lay or when I recieve them?I also need to let them settle big end up for 48 hrs.min.right?in egg carton or incubator?
Thanks for previous help too
