Today is day 21 of my broody sitting on six eggs. 2 eggs were mixes from my flock and 4 were Wyandottes that were shipped to me. The mixes have hatched and are well but nothing with the ones I bought. Could shipping make them hatch later or is it because certain breeds hatch later than others?

Give them acouple more days. The hen will know when to get up and leave the nest. I don't think shipping has anything to do with them being late hatching out.

Some chicks just hatch out earlier than others.

Hate to say this, but shipped eggs have a really bad reputation for hatching. Give them until day 25, just to be sure, then pitch them. Sorry........Pop

Edit to say, oops, you did say broody. She may get off the nest and leave the unhatched eggs after the first chicks are 2 days old. Candle them, but handle with care. You don`t want a roten egg to explode on you.

no, i hatch shipped eggs all the time and they never hatch later than expected and i dont notice a lower hatch rate with all batches i got around 65% hatch
