Shipped Eggs - How long until I have to incubate?

Howdy,

I've just received 30 shipped eggs for incubation but the incubator won't be ready for a few days.

What's the best way to keep them fertile until "go-time"?

Keep them cool. Set them small end down to let the air cell stabilize. If you have a turner for your incubator, set them small end down in the turner and let it run. If you don't have a turner, you will need to hand turn them just as if they were incubating. Get them going as soon as you can, age of the eggs can have an effect on hatchability.

I would add, keep a bowl of water near them also. Humidity is important too.

I usually keep them in the egg carton and place them on the floor in the corner of my living room (it's dark and cool).

I prop one side up on a book and rotate ends every so often.
