Shipped eggs

I ordered some gorgeous French copper Maran eggs however due to the dark shells I can't tell if the air cells are detached or not. How on earth do you tell on dark eggs. They rested for a day then went in still air incurbator last night just in egg carton for the moment. I'm not sure when to set in egg turner since I'm unsure of aircells. Any advice? I'm really hoping fe all hens

I don't put them in the turner for about 5 days regardless. I use a really, really bright headlamp and can't confidently see in mine until nearly 10 days in, as far as development goes.

Won't the chicks get stuck by not turning for that long?

I only let my shipped eggs sit on the counter, upright in the carton for 24 hrs then put them in the incubator and turn the turner on. I figure if the air cell hasn't settled in 24 hrs, it probably won't, and that if I gave them to a broody to incubate, she would be turning them. It's really up to you......

That's why I don't give shipped eggs to broodies lol.
