Hello, I'm on day 20 with my shipped Ermine eggs. I had 8 to develop of a dozen, but 5 are saddled air sac. I'm so afraid they will suffocate with that tiny space to pip from. What's the best way to lay them on, and where do I need to look for them to pip? When do I know to intervien and help out? I've already had two to die because I thought they were PIPed internally and they weren't. These are very expensive and my first time dealing with saddled air sacs. Please help! Do I help when I hear chirping? If I remove the shell and it looks a little shrunk wrapped but no openings, can they still breathe in the membrane?

Ok, it sure does look as though it's shrink wrapped in 3/4 of the egg. I did try to help one because I didn't feel like it could move enough inside to pep. But I guess I did too soon. It looked half developed and two them died when they had . I'm so upset because t

I don't have any of my locks other then screen shots. Looks bad. But they still kickin

I am so sorry. They were premature when you assisted. I never would help a chick hatch unless it was past 21 days.

Also, the propensity for leg, limb, and neck injuries increases when we intervene, and I've seen it happen, so I do not like to assist them unless absolutely necessary. I just successfully helped one out on Day 22 that had its air cell on the side. He was ready to come out and is fine.

If you feel they need help again, here's an article on how to do it, but please let them try first. They need to be 21 days old.

They need time to fully mature before any assistance should be done.
