Shipped hatch rates?

After being spoilt by having a wonderful 100% hatch rate for my first hatch I have 18 eggs coming over the next few days.....3 different batches of 6 from 3 different sellers.......i know madness!

Anyway - I know that shipped hatch rates are generally way lower than home eggs....but I was wondering how your shipped hatches have worked out and any tips for ensure the best results.

Everything from 0 out of 18 to 11 out of 13.

Depends on the freshness of the eggs, the care taken during shipping, their original fertility, the weather while be shipped, etc. etc. So many variables... so its hard to say. If the seller knows what they are doing, ships only fresh fertilized eggs and the eggs are not handled too roughly during shipping, then the hatch rate should be decent. I've only received two sets of shipped eggs, and both were set under one of my broody hens. The first were 9 mille fleur eggs... not a one hatched. The second were 6 call duck eggs... all six developed the entire term, 5 hatched, and the 6th one died right before hatch. So that's nearly a 100% percent hatch rate. It really just depends. Be sure to buy from reputable sellers that know what they are doing.

I ordered from Meyer Hatchery and have had 80 to 100% hatch rates. eBay sellers don't use the foam shipping so I get around 50%. I will still order from eBay if I want a rare breed.

Personally? 10%.
I'm not sure if that was due to shipping or my error though. Whatever it is I hope I get better at it!

I had 2 (would have been 3 but there was a seperate issue) out of 12 and about 12 out of 36, but hadn't know to rest eggs upright or to incubate upright for saddles aircells
