I just received my package today of 18 shipped silkie eggs and when I picked the package up I was very concerned that she didn't state what was in the box, so that the post office doesn't X-ray the eggs!!!
The sender told me she doesn't mark them because of the mishandling the postal service does to egg packages. " Okay I understand.
--- My problem is that for her not disclosing on the package that it's live embryos and do not X-ray the eggs, what she sent me are NOT hatching eggs as our agreement and payment was for! Also knowing it wasn't labeled correctly she their for sent me regular eggs!! Because of how sucure the postal service is about security now a days

I'm looking for input on what I should do. In my eyes it's a no brainier! But in her eyes she thinks she did me a favor. I also asked if she had any success story's of hatching eggs on Facebook because thats where i found her and her post to order hatching eggs. I asked her for success story's of her sending hatching eggs through the mail without marking the box's and she said she doesn't have any for me to see proof!!!
I FEEL LIKE I GOT SCAMMED, DID I GET SCAMMED?

Many people don't mark their boxes if they aren't NPIP certified because shipping through states is illegal without it. Is this seller NPIP?

In some ways they're right, writing fragile MAY make shipping worse;

But this depends on the company you use and the particular post offices it goes through. Your mileage may vary and some places are going to be worse than others. The above study has a tiny sample size.

X-rays may or may not effect eggs. I'd love to see some real citation that post office xrays effects shipped eggs myself.

Actually..they would probably get scanned anyway..if..that's what this or that particular p.o. does. You need to go watch a few videos of how mail is handled. They don't always...handle it . Often times, it's just dumped from a large truck onto belts. Some are handled but thrown into bins and belts. Soo much mail! This is why, shipped eggs are a gamble. Oh, and, there are also videos of the crazys in the back room that will deliberately throw..toss..a package back and forth to each other, because a package was marked! Handle with care...eggs...So a lot of folks think it best not to mark them these days.

Ground ..true! Also, love your avvy! I used to hatch silkies often. I miss that. Here are a few few my past girls.

.Oh man I miss them. Had to stop hatching..and downsize my flock due to husband's illness. I just have a few good layers now. I loved having silkies!!

That doesn't sound like a scam at all. I have gotten unmarked shipped eggs many times with no reduction in hatch rate compared to those that are marked. I'd quit worrying and just set the eggs. Why do you think that not marking them makes them "regular eggs"?

I honestly fail to see what's wrong in this situation.

Most packages are handled by machines. These machines will handle almost all packages the same way, no matter what is listed on the package. Great packing is your best insurance against damage.
Agreed. I have yet to see evidence that marking them "do not x-ray" actually does anything to the way they are handled. Honestly, if I were the PO, I'd make SURE to x-ray any package that said not to, because that seems shady.
