Shipped peafowl in pics (pic heavy)

I can't wait until they grow out all the way. The white pea's are my wife Sharon's, she always liked them. It's been a rocky start for them so far. I got her 3 chicks two years ago for her birthday - of the 3 one had leg problems and we had to put it down. The other 2 were males - (my luck all the way) For her birthday this year I got her another yearling pair shipped in. They were doing great until a couple weeks ago and one Saturday we were looking at them and I made the comment on how I was really starting to like them. The next day the hen was dead, looked like she got her head in the fence and broke her neck. I know I violated the #1 rule with birds, never say you like one. it's the kiss of death. So this time around I got her 2 hens.

So far they are doing just fine and have settled right in.

The peach-ish color was so even I wasn't sure... Wish my DH would get me something like that! I have always loved the whites, something about them, maybe the delicate lacey appearance when they display? Beautiful birds!

Any remedy for prevention of that happening to another bird or was it just a freak event? I'm trying to aclimatize my three peachicks to out door facility... fencing and netting, quite secure. I worry about what I haven't thought of that could kill them. Meanwhile they are in our master bath. I'd like to have it back.

I don't know a remedy for that, our pea pens are are 2 x 4 welded wire and 2 inch netting over the top. It was a freak I think and the "I like that bird" curse. Hate your peas and they do fine. Our India Blues do great year after year and they are just birds like the rest.

When he asks what you want for your birthday...... or a sure fire thing - the next time he is in the "dog house".

We just finished putting the avian netting over their pen yesterday and moved them into it. Of course they didn't like it and spent the resy of the daay trying to find a way our.
