shipping adult chickens

I'm looking into getting a rooster of a specific breed (sulmtaler) from a different state. How safe is it to ship adult birds? Anyone have bad experiences with this?

I will be getting a 4 month old CBL roo from

this week. Shipping from Texas to Alaska....happen a lot. Birds should be fine. USPS does a great job of this. Peace.

I just came back from the local post office and was told that express shipping for an adult roo from Boston area to Pittsburgh area would take two days. Is that a safe amount of time for him to go without food and water? I thought the whole purpose of sending him express was to get him there overnight...
