Shipping dirty hatching eggs

When I have received eggs that had broken egg on them it was often already dry. Only one batch was still wet and I did not record that in my book as it was several years ago and my recording system had not been fine tuned.

I know I got chicks from that hatch but can't say if the ones contaminated were the ones that I got chicks from.

When I set the eggs that had dried yolk contamination I got off as much as possible by scraping and rubbing with my fingers. Looks like a few hatched but with that much rough treatment to get the eggs busted like that I am surprised any hatched. So I can't say if the egg yuck had any effect or just someone using the box as a football.

Don't rely on what I've experienced. There may be something about my procedures, my incubation or another factor that may have benefited me. My point is, don't depend on what you read. It may not hold true in your situation. Too many people are simply repeating what they've read and often times something is lost in the translation.
