I'm moving to Texas in December. I'll be flying there and I won't be able to take my dove with me on the plane. So I'm looking into shipping him. I've already asked my local post office if they ship live birds and they said yes. I bought a shipping box from Foy's Pigeon Supplies that will be arriving on the 20th.

I want to know if anyone else has shipped their birds/bird and what your experience was. Any deaths? Is there anything that would be good to do for your bird before you ship it? Any precautions I should take?

Thanks in advance for any info you guys have.

There is always chance of death when shipping, but it should go ok. Are you sure you can't have him in a small cage as a carry on like they do with cats and dogs?

mail on monday or tuesday findout when mail is picked up at post office get there about thirty mins before less time birds in box they say next day but if mailed on monday it is wensday morning usualy let the post office know to expect birds and call you when they arrive gone down pick hem up also get track number funny thing shipped one bird to cal..same time shipped 12 to alaska the alaska birds where there the next morning the other bird next day and real late

I could take him on the plane with me but I already bought the shipping box which was about $30 including shipping & handling. Does anyone know if I could return the box?

Also does anyone have any experiences with taking a bird on a plane with you? I'm really considering taking him on with me but my mom has some doubts.

I'm flying with United Airlines.

I checked they're pet policy and it said that birds could be taken on the plane with you. And it's only $125. I looked up online how much it usually is to ship a bird and people said between $120 and $175. So I guess it's probably about the same price but now I just need to find out if I would be able to take my bird on the plane with me after we already bought our tickets

mailing birds is not that much for just a few i would say around sixty dollars for four doves it goes by weight and distance you can guess birds weight and the box then postal zips ask the post office cost the only thing is the holiday travels and gift mailings might slow the process

How long can a Ringneck dove survive without water? The post office said it will probably take two days to get my dove to Texas and there is no water allowed in the box. He won't have any water or food for two days.:/

had some get lost one time in the mail for one week it was cooler they made it so the two days they should be ok take the birds to your post office 30 minutes before they pick up the mail usually late after noon the birds should arrive wensday morning if mailed monday call the recieveing post office tell them to call you as soon as they get there go down pick them up birds have not been in box for 48 hours no issues

Okay, thank you
