Shipping embargo?

i didn’t know where else to post this. I went to ship chicks this morning, and the USPS lady said she had to check her list to make sure I could ship to a certain state. She said Iowa has an embargo and isn’t accepting shipments (I don’t know if this is specific to live poultry or applies to all packages?). Thankfully, my cheeps were not destined for Iowa.

Is there a website or database where I can find this info ahead of time? I don’t like those kinds of surprises ya know...

I try to stay updated but there’s gotta be a better way!

Floods in Iowa are preventing commerce movement. At least with any predictability hence the embargo to ship there.

Situations like this can occur any time, with little or no advance notice. Emergencies happen! The state or national ag sites may be up to date, or not. Calling ahead might be your best plan here.
