I thought this would be a good place to ask as it has to do with re-homing a rooster. I didn't see any other forums that seemed appropriate for this kind of question.
I only have room for 2 but got a surprise 3rd and I need to find a home for 1. I do have a friend who lives several states away who would take him if closer. My question is, is it safe or even possible to ship a 30 week old rooster, overnight of course, from NY to WY? If so what precautions should I take?

Yes it is possible to ship him but you need to check with:
Mr. Douglas J. Leinart, Wyoming Livestock Board, Animal Health Division [email protected] to see what their exact import requirements are first.

I am not sure about this states requirements.

Some states require certain testing and paperworks.

Our "out of our State" buyers pay a fee for our Vet to inspect and document health status of our livestock. Up front of course.

Yes some states will accept a certificate of health from a vet, most states require the very minimum PT testing too. (Pullorum-Typhoid)

ETA...This is for poultry. I know zero about the requirements to move any other type animal over state boarders.

You will also need an approved shipping container such as a Horizon box

http://www.hm-e.net/

and ship Express. That doesn't always mean overnight though, depending on origin/destination. Cross country expenses could run $100 including box cost.

Would dog crates be ok to ship poultry?
Just curious.
