Can someone help me out. I see some of you sell eggs, shipping included for $10. How do you do that? Here it is $9.85 for a medium priority box for the USPS. That doesn't include stuffing the box. Can yall help me?
Thanks,
Terri

Because basically we are just selling the eggs for the shipping cost and charging nothing or very little for the eggs or packing material.

I try not to make anything off of shipping that is why I won't charge more then $12.00 for 12+ large eggs and yes I have lost money do to shipping being more.

I ship 5 peafowl eggs for 10.00 shipping cost to everyone.(price of eggs set by auction) Dont make money on shipping or charge for time packing.
The boxes are free, buy other supplys in bulk.

Shipping cost range from 8 to 12 dollars . (12.00 was to AK)

Yes I pack them well, 4 years shipping without any broken eggs.

Had 10 little call duck eggs shipped to me the seller charged 16.00 shipping. CRAZY people making money from shipping. Charging for time packing eggs, why not charge for time feeding birds.

Yes people do give eggs away ,just charge for the shipping.

Thats a good idea. I didn't want to make any money. I was more interested in how to do it where it is fair on both sides. So turning the box inside out is a great idea.
Thanks

pips&peeps :

If I have a small order, I turn the small flat rate box inside out and glue it back together for less postage.

No reason to do this, the USPS have free Priority boxes. then you pay by weight.

Only use flat rate boxes when shipping something heavy, cheaper with priority mail.

I just received eggs in the mail from a great seller. Thanks again beargreatchen. she turned a flat rate box inside out(Free box @ PO) Each egg was wrapped with bubble wrap. Then they were carefully placed in biodegradable shipping peanuts.(there more like noodles) Postage cost her $6. ..............My local pharmacy throws out piles of packaging materials(cold packs, insulated boxes, peanuts). If you ask, their usually happy to give them away.

I sell many eggs for $10 or $12, shipping included, because I use the #4 priority box a lot. It is 7" x 7" x 6", and can hold about a dozen bantam eggs, or 2-3 dozen quail eggs. If the weight of the #4 box is 1 pound or less, the shipping is only $5.

ETA: I never use the flat rate boxes. The only way that would save any money is for the large box, and then it's usually not big enough. Plus the difference would be about $1, and that's shipping all the way to the west coast.

I got a pack of priority mail boxes last week, and the INSIDE of the boxes now come printed, so they know if you flip them inside out.
