Shipping?

Our first order of 5 chicks was shipping $38, due to the added heat packs, and the express shipping. For us it's worth the cost!

I have yet to find a box big enough to hold 4 of my large fowl birds.

I had a pair of large fowl Wyandottes (heavy birds) shipped to me from New York. The postage and boxes was almost $150. I had 2 boxes, as not to crowd them.

I ship chicks. The cheapest place I have found to buy boxes are here. Remember to add shipping cost to get the boxes too.

It is usually around $35. postage for a box of chicks. More when heat pack is added (they are rather heavy).

So, you see, it all adds up.

That's still 2 boxes so it wasnt but $75 per box counting the box fee if I read that right.
Also if you get the swan boxes I dont care how big the chicken is, you can fit 4 in it and save They are like 2 foot wide and 3 foot long if not a little bigger. I can put 3 full grown pea fowl hens in one, so 4 chickens will definitly fit.
I know what you are getting at though, it can get expensive. but Like I said weight and distance make the price. Also The two box deal is pretty expensive. The package as a whole is what cost so much, the addition of a little more bird weight doesnt effct the price nearly as much as sending 2 packages.
what I mean is shipping was roughly $100 - $115 for your two packages after you remove the box fee. If you had gotten a bigger box and done just one package it would have been most likely $40 less. The tiny single bird boxes just so yall know... they do allow you to tape them together and creat 1 big box out of them for a single package price too. This is MUCH cheaper than mailing them as individuals.... Those will hold 1 large fowl birds or 3-6 bantam style birds easily.

So, just like adding it all up and it can get expensive, there are also some tricks like this to take some of the cost back out of it.

But if you are dealing with masive birds like some of the 8 pound plus chicken breeds, or peafowl and turkeys, then yes it's going to push $100 per package on average
the smaller birds, bantams, call ducks, stuff like that... I get boxes of 6-8 of them in here all the time from all over the country, they usually run $65- $80
