Ok thank you! I did not know that! We closed in their shelter more over the weekend and have not seen anymore shivering so far!
 
Nice pen. You could try making a raised platform for them to lay on to keep him off the ground. We've always used hay mostly, but on occasion have used straw. We even use shavings. The goats sit and eat it for a while until it's too dirty to continue. :)

You are right. My favorite bedding was always a layer of shavings with a generous amount of straw on top. The shavings did a good job of absorbing moisture and provided insulation from the ground. The straw provided warmth and a nice cushion to lie on.
