Hi, I have 31 new khaki campbell ducks, a week old today. Last night, one duckling started crying loudly and I ran over and he was on his back with his neck weird. I don't know if he was trampled by the others as it was right near the end of a free-for-all at the waterer I just refilled for the 4th time that day. I picked him up and he screamed when I moved his neck or tried to gauge if it was broken, etc so I just let him sit on my chest for a little while. He was still shivering but I segregated him to a little box inside the larger bin with birds, so the others wouldn't trample him overnight, gave him food and water in tiny dishes. He still peeped a lot like he was unhappy but made it though the night. This morning he was holding his head up more and able to extend his neck, but he's walking wobbly and constantly shivering, even though he's not cold. He's drinking water fine but not eating, even when we try to hand feed him, regular or mush. He also doesn't seem to lie down to sleep or even sit down, like the others. Just stands up shivering and peeping off an on. They are eating only organic feed (with added organic yeast), clean filtered water, clean bedding, all changed a few times a day. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

He was in the same 95 degree bin as all the others. :(

Sorry to hear he passed :(
At a week old my ducklings didnt like it more than 80 tops! And would spend alot if time away from the lamp.
I hope you have a cool corner of the brooder that is at least 15 degrees or so cooler. He may have been overheated and got trampled and injured
With 31 ducklings i cant imagine they need much heat added.

Thanks, yes, it's a big bin and they all move to where they like the heat depending on how wet they are (we give them swim time in the tub every day). A vet told me his neck was likely broken, but he was warm and cared for when he passed. :)

I could be mistaken but I remember reading something about a neurological condition called "wry neck", might be worth searching for.
