I couldn’t find them on the site. 😭 there was a for sale page with some adults, yearlings, and a couple of this years foals, but not the one you posted. Also are they really closing!? :hit
Sorry! I assumed Sumo had a birth announcement like the first two 2026 foals had. He's only two weeks old, so they may not have gotten around to it. He's also ex-TREEEM-ly difficult to photograph. He's always moving and is a bit, shall we say "in-your-face" when handled. He's a stinker ... it's a good thing he's so cute!

As far as the farm goes, it's family owned and run. There is no one in family interested in taking over when the matriarch steps down. Unless a private buyer steps up, it will likely be listed in the next year or so - and who knows what will happen to that beautiful campus in other hands? It's so sad. Maryland may well be losing a true jewel.

Okay, apparently I lied. The Hilltop Farm babies' birth announcements are on FaceBook, not the website.
Sumo was posted on March 16:
"Our third foal of the year has arrived and it's a handsome, strong colt by the Olympic medalist Salvino and out of Peyton (Kjento-Royal Prince)."

Ohhhhh okay cool! Thanks!

I have been looking at horses for sale so me and my sister don't have to share Phoebe. most of the horses that are for sale are either yearlings, too old, too expensive, too far away or too short. we found a horse near us but it is only 13 hands and too short for us. we found a horse and it sounds really nice and it is near us but it is 18 years old and they want way too much for it but we still might go look at it.

Where are you located? That might let some of us help you look!

The whole horse economy is terrible! As land gets more and more expensive and rural places get more money selling to developers, inflation keeps rising, more boarding places are closing, so horse ownership is becoming less and less affordable for average-income people.
Don't give up, though! The way horse heath care has become more advanced, many 18-year-old horses (if they've had good care and nutrition throughout their lives, get them vetted for sure) are just as sound as an average 10-15-year-old might have been in the 90's!
Please don't discount an 18-20 year-old horse just because of its age. Get a good PPE from a good vet, and if the horse is sound, even if it might need special feeding or supplements, with good care that horse could give you 10 more years and possibly more, as a great partner with a good attitude, who can help take you wherever you want to go.

I know that 18 year old horses still have quite a few years left. my friend has a 25 year old mare and she acts like a horse half her age. there isn't anything wrong with an older horse it's just that if we can find a younger horse that would be better.
they also want way too much for that 18 year old even if he does have a lot of years left it is still too much they are asking.

there was a 17 year old gelding not too far from us and it said he was a nice step up horse but he was blind in one eye and they wanted like $9,000 for him. if he wasn't so much then we would have gone to look at him but $9,000 is way more then we want to spend on a horse
