Sho or Pro Rabbit Feed?

I'm so confused.....whats the difference between Purina Sho feed and Purina Pro feed? My rabbit isn't going to go to any show so should I feed Pro?

I feed Show because Pro has corn in it, whereas Show doesn't. Too much corn causes some nasty condition, I forgot what it does and what it's called, but I figured I'm better safe than sorry.


I don't breed or keep any show rabbits either!

Have you ever seen the labels on Purina dog and cat food? All of their products are packed full of corn. All they care about is money. They couldn't care less if your animal dies or not.

Dogs and cats are not rabbits, it won't kill the dogs or cats, just gives a higher chance of obesity.

Rabbits are both 'coprophagous' and obligate herbivores... because of differences in digestions rabbits should not be w/o food before surgery like cats or dogs.

Cats are obligate carnivores.

Dogs are carnivores.

In the long run, corn causes problems in dogs and cats that can easily cause them to die. Dogs fed on a raw diet vs. a corn based kibble diet live much longer. I realize dogs, cats, and rabbits are different, but what I am saying is Purina produces low quality food with lots of fillers.

Corn isn't "good" for rabbits, but people still feed corn because it's cheap (same for dog and cat food). Is the rabbit just a pet, with no plans to breed?

Purina Show is 16% protein, 3.5% fat, and 18.5/21.5% fiber and Purina Professional is 18% Protein, 1.6% fat, and 14.5/19% Fiber.

The Purina show might be too high in fat for pets, but it does make the coats look amazing (I like this formula better myself, but it's hard to keep pets from getting a little fat on it, even when pellets are restricted). I would like more fiber in the Professional formula, and the protein is just a tad higher than a pet rabbit really needs, but you could feed some grass hay with it, and get the levels to where you want them.

I special order my rabbit food from a pet store...a bit of a pain but some of the basic feeds dont really have what i was looking for. The corn is just like a ceap filler they throw in for a rabbits to bloated from it they have to digest a good amount so the food is not dangering the rabbits or anything. Picking the food should depend on the breed of rabbit and what you are raising it for. Certain breeds need a low fat content feed and some people like to give there meat rabbits/mothers feed with calf mana in it. Also for show rabbits certain feeds and added fruit exymes (ex papya) that help with coat condition. sorry bout the spelling buts in 2 am and i have no idea why im still up lol
